The relative significance follows Kerr (1994) and the C.C.C. Guidance 2007

  • Exceptional - importance at national to international levels.
  • Considerable - important at regional level or sometimes higher.
  • Some - usually of local value but possibly of regional significance for group or other value (e.g. a vernacular architectural feature)
  • Local - of local value
  • Negative or intrusive features - i.e. those which actually detract from the value of a site.
  • Interior: Exceptional significance
  • Liturgical order: The current remnants of the Victorian scheme has some local significance.
  • Rood Screen: Exceptional significance.
  • Font and pulpit: Considerable significance.
  • Seating: Local significance, Corporation pew fronts are of considerable significance.
  • Floor finishes: Local significance.
  • Monuments: Considerable (Blackhall) The intramural monuments have some significance.
  • Lighting: Little to negative significance
  • Willis Organ: Considerable significance
  • Heating: Negative significance

We have listed only those subject to our reordering/restoration project.

The reordering will reveal the visual and spatial impact of the interior, and will be further enhanced by the provision of high quality materials including flooring, carefully designed and good quality facilities, and services, enabling the church to respond to future needs.
